Preparations

Planing our route.

Discussing it with the Head Shliach.

Some final guidance from Rabbi Shemtov.

Departing from the Headquarters in Montevideo.

Mitzvos

Finding the correct candle-lighting time for the city of Colonia del Sacramento.

Gaby is the south-american chess champion. (Guess who won...)

Meir, showing his Bar Mitzva video to 12 year-old Gaby.

Having a shmooze with Henry.

Gabriel took us to see the famous paper factory in Uruguay.

The only jew in the entire state of Rio Negro, connects with G-d.
Pablo, before his previous tzedakah box was stolen, he would encourage all his costumers to give tzedakah.
Here, Pablo with his new tzedakah box.

We've missed Rafael our first time, so we went back to his city to meet him.

Raul's got a car collection, and sometimes he gets stuck in his own traffic...

Rabbi Shemtov's recently published book answers many of the questions that our friends have.

We've got mezuzas, but no yarmulkas.. How ironic!

Some of the people who were present decided to get a mezuza for their own house as well.

A mezuza for Susy.

Chatting with our new friend Avraham in yiddish.

Avraham Wolf, 81, putting on tefilin for the first time in his life.

Bar Mitzvah in his eighties!

Avraham's new mezuza.

Our dear friend Ernesto, unfortunately can't talk or walk. Was extremely excited to see us.
We said l'chaim with him, put on tefillin, and gave him a Siddur as a gift.

Communicating with us. (this paper read: "what can we drink for l'chaim?")

Jaime's three year old daughter is the only jewish girl in the city, that's why he named her Sarah!

Daily Mikvah

Finding a mikvah is not always such an easy task...

Our mikvah in Concordia, Argentina.

A breathtaking view from Las Cumbres.

Our mikvah in Santana do Livramento, Brasil.

On The Road

These pictures need no captions :)

Public Events

Having a fish brunch, and some words of torah after fishing on our friend's yacht.

On Shabbos, we arranged a historic minyan in the city of Paysandú, followed by a kiddush and a farbrengen (with the help of the kitchen at the chabad headquarters in Montevideo)! Over 20 people attended the services!

Havdalah services at Mario's house.

Barbecue with college students.

Shiur and 'question & answer night' in Punta del Este.

Boruch Hashem, over 25 people attended!

A special video presentation was arranged for those who stayed.

Some jokes...

Answering questions...

Interesting Stuff

Luxurious hotels.

Uruguay's soccer fever felt in the city of Paysandú.

After winning the South American Soccer Cup, Uruguayans take the streets to celebrate.
That night we received a text message from our friend mario all the way from the stadium: "Mazal Tov! Baruch Hashem we won!" (these are words we taught him the night before the game)

A clothing store named "El Judío" ("The Jew")!

Two roving rabbis from Argentina came to give us a hand during our shabbos in Paysandú.

We paid a visit to the shochatim in the city of Salto.

Everyone in the city knows the rabbis.

Crossing the Uruguay-Brasil border? Just sit on the other side of the bench.

Getting ready for the 17 of tammuz fast. (Thanks Mrs. Shemtov!)

The city of Florida, Uruguay.

The capital city of Montevideo.

Looking high and low for our fellow jews.
